Our communities are at their best when everyone can thrive in body and mind—and help others to do the same.

Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities (HMHC) is a new initiative that provides mental health tools and training so community members can better support their neighbors in times of emotional need.

Putting our minds where it matters.

People helping people

We prioritize the powerful knowledge and experiences of a community.

HMHC is at the forefront of community-initiated care, an approach that allows residents and community leaders to empower change from within.

Listening and learning from communities firsthand, we’re able to provide hands-on tools and training so people can better respond to emotional crisis—and help others do the same.

Where it all started

We lead focused initiatives in key neighborhoods that have long faced barriers to behavioral health services.

HMHC began as a response to community mental health needs identified during the COVID-19 pandemic, with priority given to areas with higher suicide rates and lower access to licensed providers. Today, our events are free and open to all Harris County residents.
